Data Projection and Visual Exploration

Large relational data are the primary sources of data in real world. The analysis, exploration, and walk-through of large relational data have practical applications in many areas. This research has two parts: (1) data projection; (2) interactive data exploration. Data projection reduces the dimensionality of data by projecting large relational data from a high dimensional embedding space to a low dimensional intrinsic space. The projected low dimensional data can then be visually explored using interactive visualization techniques.

In data projection, we focus on the development of robust and reliable projection techniques and ways to make these techniques scalable to the size of data and work incrementally with growing data. In visual data exploration, we focus on interactive exploration of multi-resolution high dimensional data cubes by using 3D rendering techniques with backend database support.
